Sai Sudarshan Reflects on India A Selection

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 23: Following the IPL 2025 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), left-handed batsman Sai Sudarshan shared his thoughts on being named in the India A squad for the upcoming tour to England.

The announcement of the India A team for the England tour was made on May 16, featuring several prominent players, including Karun Nair, who earned his spot after an impressive domestic season.

During this tour, India A is scheduled to compete in two first-class matches against the England Lions in Canterbury and Northampton on May 30 and June 6, respectively. The tour will conclude with an intra-squad match against Team India on June 13 at Beckenham.

Batters Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan will join the squad prior to the second match. They have been instrumental in the Gujarat Titans' batting lineup, with Sudarshan accumulating 508 runs in 11 matches (including five half-centuries) and Gill scoring 509 runs in the same number of matches (also with five fifties).

In a post-match press conference, Sai Sudarshan commented on his selection, stating, “I know I’m heading for the India A game, so I need to stay focused on the IPL first. Once that’s done, I can shift my attention to the India A opportunity. I’m definitely excited and looking forward to the experience.”

The team will be captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran, a seasoned player in domestic cricket for Bengal, boasting 101 first-class matches, 7,674 runs at an average of 48.87, along with 27 centuries and 29 fifties. However, he had a challenging tour in Australia last year, managing only 36 runs across four innings.

India A squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (VC) (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Harsh Dubey.
